La Trinca: an unauthorised biography
2011 / TV3
TV Movie
Synopsis
It’s grand premiere night for the movie about Catalonia’s popular 3-man band, “La Trinca”. But not all is enthusiasm and euphoria. Three aging professionals of the stage complain that the film has nothing to do with what really happened. In true Rashomon style, the three veterans recount the eventful night of Fiesta Mayor when, forty years earlier, the young and ingenuous musicians made their debut in the world of show-biz. The three hilarious versions invite us into the heart-warming world of a travelling show in 1970’s Spain, with the pressure of censorship, the first tourists, the first independence seekers, the first striptease and a full array of chaplains, priests and forces of law and order, General Franco himself included.
